Mr Richard BeamanI was always the non-athletic son. Sure, I loved to be outside and energetic, but never playing organized sports. Though often I could hold my own, it was always a joke that I couldn't even hold a basketball. I used to have this idea in my head that Dad might not like me as much as the others -- Dusty, Matt, & Tony -- simply because they were good at sports. It didn't take long for me to find out that this was wrong - Dad only expected us to do well at anything we started.
Dad has a gigantic list of quotes that he has heard in the past (mainly from his dad) that he likes to use to inspire us or lighten a mood. Often, they lighten a mood by being filled with nonsense. However, each of these is something I remember and think from time to time. Though I don't use these or having anything that I say that stands out, I do hope that my words inspire someone someday, just like Dad does with his quotes.
Dad has always been a relaxed person. However, when he needs to complete a job, it will be done! Not only will it get finished on time or before, he will know everything about what it took to accomplish the task. He's a very detailed-oriented person and thinks logically about all situations. This is something I've taken from him. Though it's not always easy to sit down and think through a problem, it's important to understand what you're about to put yourself through in a situation. Instead of making spur-of-the-moment decisions, Dad is able to plan out what he'll choose to do and why. This is something I've always admired.
Dad, thanks for always being there for myself and my four siblings. Without your wisdom, intelligence, and discipline, I would not be half of the person I am today or even close to where I stand. I know that you support me in all that I do, but pray that I make wise decisions about my future. I hope I continue to make you proud in my endeavors. You and mom have always been my rock and foundation. Don't lose sight of what's truly important in life. You've built up an incredibly blessed family - one that I'm proud to be a part of. Thanks for everything! I love you, Dad! /td>
